About

Chris Gbekorbu is currently a full-time business writer with Customer Development at Information Services Corporation of Saskatchewan, where his primary responsibilities include creating and editing training materials, and helping to develop training programs for ISC’s products and services.
Chris is also a part-time English professor at the University of Regina. His classes focus on helping students to communicate effectively in different media and on Science Fiction, and look at the consequences of technologies and how they are shaping society. “People often assume that studying literature has little value and that SF is merely entertainment. But many of the technologies we have today had their beginnings in SF, so really, SF allows us to glimpse the future and decide if we like what we see.”
Over the past 12 years, Chris has worked as a writer and researcher on a number of projects in a variety of fields. Examples include:
- writing training materials that have helped companies capture work processes and reduce inefficiencies and training time
- helping clients to prepare marketing material and grant proposals
- researching the Australian farming industry to develop a strategy to market agricultural products
- identifying best practices for a Recognition of Prior Learning policy
Chris has a thirst for knowledge and is constantly learning new things. After earning a B.A. (Hons) in Psychology and a B.A. in English with minors in Biology and Philosophy, Chris finished his M.A. in English where he focused on the social and psychological effects of the Web. With his interests turning towards business, Chris went on to complete a diploma program in Businesses Administration with an emphasis on Marketing and Finance, and is currently pursuing a certificate in Economics. Scene From Above (a play on seeing the Big Picture) is a reflection of his commitment to lifelong learning and educating others.
